EDIT:
I have to give a biased 5/5 stars due to the personal side of things, but also because of the plot, symbolism, and arcs of the story. The spelling/grammar, pacing, and BG art definitely need work, but after polishing those up what you'll be left with is a beautiful diamond. The music fits even though it is free license. Kur knows how to give characters proper personalities and fitting reactions, something even bigger VN creators can fail at, so he is quite the rare find on Itch!
Besides what is put on the table, I also consider how it was cooked up; what was going on in their mind/subconscious as this story was coming to life. I am convinced due to some back and forth spelling errors (like wholl, woul, woll...etc) that we are reading the first draft. Written in the Ren'Py code instead of on MS Word and pasted after quick corrections. That's how I like it, and from what I can tell, this story is worth the read even if you're an atheist/agnostic.
There is awareness in that humans aren't perfect, however the road is wide and clear if you so wish to take the noble path (standing up for the weak, doing what is best, being kind...etc). I believe any piece of media is supposed to leave you better off after experiencing it, and if it does not, then it should at least point it out to you as a kind of "anti hero" warning and not fall victim to its tragic charm. I believe it is not only cruel, but insanity for someone to bring harm through "art", like encouraging envy or wrath by making the theme about rebellion just for rebellion's sake (like in Gnoll Way Home). There are just rebellions and unjust rebellions, and as simple as Fernando is at being the bad guy, there is still underlying virtues guiding him and general people in the wrong. --It is a bit naive to think everyone is a hero of their own story and that people in the wrong just need some understanding, patience, and a guiding light; There really are psychopaths out there who want to bring harm and aren't simply misunderstood victims. The devil in this story is clearly given a part of the stage which relegates Fernando as just another victim who is misunderstood, however I do not 100% appreciate this level of naivete that often comes from religious people who refuse to believe there is overwhelming evil in certain people, like with TJ from Echo. As awful as it makes me, there can be no doubt people like Mao, Stalin and Hitler should have been aborted. Tell me I am wrong and pray for all those millions lost, you will die of old age before you even get to half of them. I am teetering on the edge of this VN being simple Christian Naiveté, but there is plenty of proof otherwise, and clever plot with the devil aforementioned to show Kur is somewhat aware of this, consciously or otherwise, so he has my respect and seal of approval for a sound VN that will leave you better off after experiencing it, even if it seems simple and naive at a first glance, it is definitely not, and actually pretty great as far as the storytelling talent goes, definitely very commendable on that part since many who study literature and writing often fail at that crucial skill that makes or breaks a story.
