A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

After playing the game to the end (only going with one ending for now. i'll go back for the others another time in the future) I wanted to give a review, however brief.

Things I loved:

  • the sound design. Yes, even the horrible crunches and goopy sloppy disgusting ones.
  • The music and themes were especially fantastic and fitting and I found myself clicking through dialogue and breathing faster when I felt a sense of urgency with chase scenes and other high tension moments.
  • world building. it took me an embarassingly long time to realize there were wizard of oz allusions in here, in particular to orlam at least.
  • The personalities of the characters and how some of them can fall under the 7 deadly sins as well. also how relatable they are at times.
  • orlam's route in it's entirety. what can i say? he just gets me. i mean, iggy.
  • the stylistic art. I find it suitably adorable... but..

Things I disliked:

  • the stylistic art. don't get me wrong, i do like it, very much! I just think that the majority of characters in their 30s still look like children. Especially Iggy and Hunar. it throws me off a bit, slightly breaks immersion.
  • everything that was gidget prior to arc 5. i already told you why (albeit extremely clumsily. i was more concerned that the only trans character was portrayed as a rapist, as opposed to that character being cis, or there being more than one trans character so it didn't come off as transphobic.)
  • i think that, with how prevalent the aphobia is, it should be under the general warnings list. speaking of it, i have mixed feelings on using corrective rape so prevalently as a horror narrative. i don't really know how to put it into words but i wish it was done in a different way, at least.
  • lack of polyamory route. you're trying to tell me that iggy, orlam, genzou, and gidget couldn't make it work? for shame/ /j

Things I would change if I could:
polyamory. cmooonnnn. genzou orlam and iggy I feel have great chemistry as a throuple, and with post-arc5 gidget, iggy could be dating them but the others don't have to date them. like a constellation of sorts.

I was hitting up both genzou and gidget, alternating between them, before orlam came around because I was hoping that if I balanced it I'd get a secret polyamory route or something. I guess not :{

i'm still not sure that i like gidget enough given the first 4 arcs. and i get that the focus of the game was more about getting everybody together, fixing what went wrong and getting The Heck Out Of There, but part of me wishes there was at least some kind of optional dialogue tree for talking things out with everybody, including them. it would feel more like a natural redemption and less like "oh hey you said the magic words and i'm all better now! whoopsy!" .. i don't think glossing over sexual trauma that much is a good thing.

Overall? I loved the game. I'll be checking in every so often to see if you make anything else, whether it's the wonderlandverse or something new. and as for the side games... well I got plenty of time in the world to check em out.

ps: where did you learn to draw gore? you're great at it, for being stylistic.
