Very solid for a demo. Rhythm platformers is a genre I don't see explored too often. I played one game in it, enjoyed it, and haven't really seen anything else until now. Between that, the art style, music, and story, this game looks right up my ally. I tried out the tutorial and first level with the default character. Minus a bit of frustration with the controls, I really enjoyed my time playing it.
My only critique/concern is the complexity. I don't know if this holds true with people more experienced in the genre, but 3-4 buttons is already lot to keep track of when you're trying to constantly tap in rhythm. I could not keep up with some of the more advance techniques like the stomp or fighting enemies on top of everything else. Maybe with a little more time I'd get a better hang of it. But there's a couple things that I think might have improved the experience, at least for me personally.
I think a separate tutorial room for each character would go a long way, just in case someone didn't read/remember the name of the character they picked before going into the tutorial. If there was any sort of way to condense the controls down to fewer buttons, that might give me more mental capability to remember things like how to do the flip or attack.
Overall, it's a shame I stumbled into this game so late into its Kickstarter because I see potential in this being a real fun game. It's just got some quirks that could probably be ironed out with play testing from more casual players. It's just a lot to take in very quickly and that not even with including how different characters have different sets of abilities. If there's a character that's more beginner friendly than the other, that might be something worth including in the character selection as well. Maybe I just need to "get good", but I'd figured better safe than sorry by throwing this all out there.
Edit: Sorry about not hitting the Kickstarter goal. Have some of my money anyways. Cause even the demo on it's own was a good enough experiences that I got to show my appreciation for it somehow.
