EvilChani rated Particles of Reality: Obsession

EvilChani rated a game 2 years ago
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS.

Before I go further, please understand that this rating is based entirely on my experience, including how the game left me feeling once I was done. Although I am a fan of horror dating and yandere games, I prefer ones with satisfying endings. Basically, endings that are as happy as your MC can get when in love with a complete and utter nutcase muderer/stalker/rapist.

If that is the type of ending you're looking for as well, go somewhere else. You won't get it here. When the author tells you there are no happy endings, it's true, and "happy endings" include satisfying ones as well.

As for the routes, I've only played through Sebastian's (a few times, in hopes I could get something satisfying) and Julian's (a few times, and the endings were worse than Sebastian's). They were both miserable, Julian's more so than Sebastian's, which sucked, because I actually liked Julian in S's route and am typically more drawn to that type of character.

I bought the game for Alexander's route (yes, I'm shallow as hell and bought it because the dude is hot). BIG mistake. I didn't make it through a quarter of his route (I'm guessing, based on the length of the other two I played), because I'm not into RPing a cuck queen. Alexander already has a harem of sex slaves (consensual, so he's not forcing anyone into anything), and if you choose to take his path, you'll just be another one of the harem. When it comes to this type of game, I can tolerate LIs who are murderers, psychopaths, completely domineering, completely possessive, and physically abusive (if your MC steps out of line), but I can't tolerate Alexander. Sorry, if my MC is going to suffer that much, she should at least be special to the LI and they should be committed to her. That's not the case with Alexander, so he can go crawl up his own ass and die.

I saw three endings each for Sebastian and Julian, and none for Alexander, and that's about all of this game I can stomach. There's not only nothing positive about the endings, there's nothing satisfying about them. The MC is doomed to live as a victim of abuse or die--there's nothing else for her.

The most positive ending I found was in Sebastian's route, where... spoiler alert.... the MC can choose to be with both him and Alexander, be turned into their sex slave, and get "trained" to be their pet. Sebastian, in his own effed up way, loves the MC and is the only one to screw the MC in a way that could get her pregnant (trying not to set off the PC police in how I word things here). Alexander just does her every other way before going his own way with the rest of his harem.

There is nothing positive about any of the Julian endings. They're just all terrible and his character is ruined pretty quickly.

All of that said, the art in this game is incredible. The writing is good--there are very few typos and the story flows pretty well, even if a lot of the "bad" stuff was clearly forced and made little sense. Characterization is sacrificed to make everything horrible. If I were rating the game on just the writing and art, in general, I would've given it 3 stars instead of 1 (not higher because I don't like forced character assassination in the name of plot). The actual subject matter, however, dropped this down to the lowest rating for me.

That doesn't mean that you won't like the game, though.

If you enjoy misery and pain, and like games where the MC is a perpetual victim who will never truly be loved by anyone, is just an object to everyone, and can never have anything good in their life, then you'll like this game. Otherwise, I suggest you steer clear and save the 35 bucks for a game that doesn't leave you feeling horrible after you play it.
