Let's get what I might find "negative" in this game first out of the way. The Gods of Ancient Egypt are misrepresented. Upholding balance, justice, order, Ma'at, cooperating with human beings to make the Universe a better place for everybody? No, let's play the role of Apep, the only figure in Kemetic mythology that is actually dead set on destruction of everything for no reason and the character we all fight each night! Of course, it might only matter to people like me, who are too much into this stuff. There are so many artworks out there that misrepresent the ancient cultures that it might be futile to point such things out. Most people consider such things obsolete, outdated, and not represented in the modern day, claiming it as a free toy to play with.
Should we let it all fall away and say that the story is not about the actual divine beings and it is "just a videogame" (I personally do not like this approach, videogames deserve their due respect as pieces of art they are in my opinion), it all ceases to be of any issue. It is just a story about a bunch of night guards interacting with Kemetic-flavoured "goodies" and "baddies", nothing serious, just some goofy fun, period.
The game is fun. It plays well, it is quite intuitive and forgiving, allows to take it all easy and play calmly, as one would play chess. For example, I have fallen for Thoth's time bending trap twice in a row in the very beginning of the game, but still finished it alright without having to rush. Mechanics are easy to understand and fun to play with, even those that might seem to be more "spooky". Interacting with Thoth and Sekhmet by just holding the Ankh and looking at them is enjoyably absurd ("Gods? No problem, take this symbol of life, it will render them harmless, a chicken and a kitten would be more of a threat at this point than these two").
It is also great to see characters from other games making appearance. Nurse Morton and mention of Dr. Edda are really appreciated, and the fact one of the nightguards seems to be one of the shadows from "Beware the Shadowcatcher", and the protagonist holds a cup with logo of Mama Rabbit's bakery from "Man from the Window" too.
Finally, it is just nice and quality is good. All the characters have beautiful models and expressive animations. Not to mention, the happy ending leads to nobody being hurt and everybody pretty much being glad with the outcome.
So, overall, amazing game as always!
