ArcaneTheWoof rated Rex: Another Island

A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Charming little game. Short, but not a mark against it; if you're looking to take a break from work and slam out a game, a skilled player can 100% the game in about an hour or so.

Controls are a little fiddly because of the sheer speed of the character, but not broken or unfair, just takes a bit to get used to the sharp acceleration/deceleration curves. Challenge is fair; skill is required but nothing is oppressive or cheap. Map is readily navigable, never felt lost, and the fast travel was welcome. Turn on camera lock; without it the camera wooshes everywhere and is a bit motion-sickness inducing.

Graphics are sufficient; nothing stunning, but they communicate the challenge effectively and give off a very strong DOS vibe. The music ranges from nice to very good, and none of the retro sound effects are obnoxious.

A well-made little diversion; feels a bit like an old Shareware title, where I'd expect it to end with a screen telling me how to order the rest of the game. Good job devs :)
