While I am lucky enough to not have a chronic illness, this hit way too hard regardless. Not just because of the frustration I felt at the doctors in game, but also because, to a lower extent, I've been there too. I spent several years feeling like there was a lump permanently stuck in my throat, something that made it difficult for me to breathe while I was in bed, and gave me a constant need to burp all day, every day, on top of getting in my way when I tried to swallow certain foods. Yet, I kept being dismissed over and over by my doctor, who kept saying I just had mucus on my throat and should take expectorant medicine. In the end, I stopped insisting, being made to believe it was something normal or that it would eventually go away, even if it had already been years. In the end, and being unable to take it anymore, I demanded more tests to be made, and it turned out to be a throat issue caused by my digestive system. It got fixed in a matter of weeks after I got proper treatment, but I had to endure that for years and years because nobody took me seriously. I can't even begin to imagine how bad it must be if it isn't just an annoyance, but actual perpetual pain.
Thank you very much for sharing your experience. Despite how frustrating it was to play through, it made me feel less alone.
