Seems a bit on the nose to call this a suffering instead of a game but hey, I had a great time feeling bad about my poor doomed citizens!!!
There's a management aspect that's important, but it's a game where I took mechanics very, very personally - traitors were punished. I would call that an astounding success in games. Between the sickly OG game boy palette and the necessity of sacrifice, every move I made got under my skin (until it didn't). I also stumbled upon the "Good" ending easily. It's a short game, but long enough to consume you.
