RandallArrow rated Succuquest

A downloadable game for Windows.

I love the premise: A young succubus on a quest to bed some heroes, and decides the best way to do that is impress them by being a hero. And I love the mechanic of transforming into different versions of yourself to get different powers.

The art is all very well done, though I would have preferred more sex CGs and fewer combat CGs. I do appreciate that you get a different sex scene with the barmaid depending on which form you're in when you ask her.

The voice acting is okay, though I did get a little tired of hearing the bark "Trans... form!" when transforming.

The gameplay is... fine.

It's a very typical Metroidvania. The double-jump is awkward on a controller (it works much better on keyboard), and the controls are just not quite as responsive as I'd like. But mostly that part is fine.

The bigger problem is that it's just very grindy and repetitive, going after the same enemies over and over again. The only penalty for failure is you have to start an area over again, and you even keep all of your earned gold, so you still feel like you're moving forward. They seem to have designed around that, trying to make you fail over and over again.

With more responsive controls, a wider variety of enemies, and better level design, this could have been a great game. As it is, it's just okay.
