Sajalow rated Silicon Dreams | cyberpunk interrogation

Sajalow rated a game 2 years ago
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux.

I liked this a lot! The complexity introduced by the emotions mechanic was really impressive, and even just in two playthroughs I found myself getting surprised by different answers to the same questions that I completely hadn't expected. My only gripe would be that I'd like to see a proper endings guide, because I found the post-interrogation choices map wasn't really enough to give me an idea of how I could've gotten the dialogue I missed. I knew the subject matter of the dialogue I was missing, but that didn't help me understand what could have prompted it (e.g. the person was too relaxed, too stressed, etc. when I was poking around that area). Oddly I found my playthrough as Kronos' Specialest Boy (aka following what they wanted at every opportunity, and getting the most information possible out of interrogations) to be the most challenging and mechanically interesting one, because the interrogation mechanics were complex enough that you really did have to think manipulatively to figure out how to get certain pieces of information out of people. At no point did I feel like a response didn't make sense based on the victim's current emotional levels, and thinking in-character as the android it really did feel like a job well-done to play "good cop" to their faces while spilling their dirty laundry in the report. I never quite succeeded at my deviancy playthrough - couldn't figure out how to survive the interrogation scene with all those "mistakes" from previous interrogations. An ending guide online somewhere would've been a helpful nudge, but I acknowledge that I'm pretty impatient when it comes to retrying things.
