Interesting idea .
But horrible level design .
Take this review as a look from a playtester's perspective .
Here are my thoughts that "stuck" me for a while :
1. Oh , there is a stick , most likely i can push the terrarium top ...
I. Oh god , terrarium have a trapdoor and a small handle ... wich almost the same collor as entire terrarium top .
2. Ok , now that I've got the trapdoor open , i can escape via it by using this conviniently placed ledder of plants .
II. Oh god , why is there a plants that looks like a ladder ... when solution is to hide .
3. Ok , i'm on top of the lamp , perhaps i can get down by walking over this lamp stick ...
III. Never mind , lamp stick seems climable/walkable , but there is invisible wall and ofc solution is to hit lamp trigger to make it go down .
4. Oh , there some cloth thing on my way and conviniently opened drawer wich serve as bridge to get on other side ...
IV. Are you kidding me , again invisible wall on place where i surely can stand and a solution is tongue .
5. Oh , there is tube of blue carpet . Surelly i can get to the floor through insides of this tobe .
5.1 Nope i can't , there is another invisible wall (yes , this is a top tier comedy moment) .
5.2 Then i need to shoot something ... but there nothing ...
5.3 Then i need to walk over top of the tube ? Nope ... again invisible wall ...
V. OH , MY , GOD . Insides of this tobe is actually walkable , but to get inside it you need to fight with broken collision system .
Morale :
Draw important parts in more bright collors and make sure that they are destinguashable from surroundings (red - danger , yellow - important , etc) .
Don't use invisible walls (or you risk get false positive like 5.1) . If you wan't to make path unwalkable but still visible put something semi-transparent (plastic bottle , glass cup , magnifying glass , etc) .
If you want tricky solution then , make sure that there nothing that can be seems like a more obvious way (again , just use semi-transparent "walls" or make real walls tall enough) .
If your game have unique player collision system (and your game not have a goal to make player rage) , make sure that "corridors" can fit not just one but a two player size of players hitbox .
