A bit disappointed as I waited a lot for this VN ever since the teasers came up. Anyway I'll try explain my reasoning.

MC is the biggest asshole on the planet! That's what we as readers SAW. We saw him being an ashole, arguing with and demeaning other characters. We saw him interrupt a class to argue politics. We saw him call a merchant a "magicless plebian" essentially (paraphrased).

As if that wasn't enough, he's also useless, stubborn and not very smart. He walks with a cart full of precious gemstones ALONE. He is so weak he can't get up from his ass during the time it took for the thief to slowly collect all his scattered gems AND his supposed amazing magic was only able to make the thief drop his coat.

All in all, I don't see a reason to root for him besides his thirst for knowledge and truth.

Second, the magic system. Your big hook to the VN, is absolutely confusing and sounds lamer than it probably is.

The explanations are confusing, and all I got is that everyone can relocate something, which sounds dumb. MC can turn off fire and put up fire. Boring.

If this was just lvl 1 magic, and you showed us "hey, look at what this lvl 100 magician can do!", we'd have a nice hook to the story. But currently magic just seems like a slightly beneficial tool in daily life. Not this grand thing that can change worlds.

I will give this VN another chapter or two, hoping my 2 biggest gripes are something the following story will fix. I'm almost sure MC's power isn't merely flames (probably karma), and that the MC will eventually stop being an asshole.

The rest of the VN is fine, sprites are great, writing is fine for the most part (barring confusing explanations and the they/them character making reading a pain, because I never know if people are talking about them(people) or them(that 1 white dudegirl))

You can consider this my personal opinion but that's what reviews are for. I'm not opposed to upping the rating if the story gets better.
