ICoE really makes me laugh with its irreverent tone (and crucial dildo subplot). Its genre-savvy is used to amuse but also to explore the bittersweet implications of its fantasy world mechanics. The writing, usually so light, dips fluidly into seriousness each time in a way that doesn't drag the story down. I recommend the accompanying book, which has the same charm.
