The Ouija Board is the second game from dunkelgrau I have played. I would say it impressed me more than The Turing test did, not to say that was a bad game. Ouija Board continues to show the developer's skill at tension and foreboding atmospheres. The game does have some slow parts where you are running around getting things set up. It also isn't always very clear on what is needed. For instance I spent about five minutes trying to find the board itself and did so by accident not knowing that's what the game wanted. Some of the jump scares fell flat as I knew what it was trying to do. That's one downside of a Ouija board is that I can guess what is being spelled pretty quickly. The graphics were decent. They won't win awards but they didn't detract from the experience either. I much prefer them over the PS1 style of Turing Test. The only real part I disliked visually was the character models which seeemed less detailed than the rest of the level. There was also no lip syncing for Ingrid's character but this is only an issue for a very brief period as she doesn't talk much. The voice acting was good as was the music.
I played the game on Linux. It never crashed and I didn't notice any bugs. There are no graphics settings at all. You can't save the game at all which means if you want to try for a different ending you have to start from the beginning. It isn't a long game but this iss till annoying and where a manual save system would have been nice. The game seemed to be locked to 30 FPS for whatever reason. I never like this as I can put higher frame rates to use and find them more fluid. You also can't turn the subtitles off which I would have liked to do.

Overall if you enjoy horror games more focused on atmosphere than action I think you will enjoy The Ouija Board. If you enjoyed the developer's other work than you know what you're in for. If they can continue to improve the technical aspects of their games then their creative skills can take center stage. This game had great tension and narrative. I finished it in about twenty five minutes and it's artistic quality combined with the price tag of free makes it a recommendation from me.
My Score: 7.5/10
