Esbi rated Even in Sorrow, A Black Lily Blooms

Esbi rated a game 2 years ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

The premise to this VN is actually quite interesting, the whole Mary/Ann dynamic, although redundant at times, is cool, and the mystery of Ann's existence is quite engaging, the true ending being my most anticipated feature from this VN so far!

The characters were great as well, each fitting into their own archetype, and I think the ideas for how to incorporate hypnotic suggestions into those archetypes were mostly well thought out and adapted to their respective characters. The Rachel route was really hard to get though, because spending every day with her will lock you out of her route??? Don't know if it does so for Marsh's route, since I talked to Carol beforehand (as much as I could, at least), but that seems like a weird requirement to enter a character's route. I also liked the few funny scenes, they all got quite a laugh out of me.

I found a few bugs along the way, some more annoying than other (like the fact the game stops responding when you skip until the Sheepy chatroom), but nothing major.

The hypnosis itself is as well portayed as it can be for this kind of VN, and Mary as an abusive hypnotist (cause that's basically what she is) is fairly well done, although she was definitely too sadistic for my personnal taste (looking at you, Violet). I'm not really the most comfortable person with sex either, so that's probably just personal preference. Unfortunately for me, this unsurprisingly focuses on sexy uses of hypnosis a lot, but again, except for the really sadistic scenes, I was mostly fine by it.

Overall, it's a fine hypno VN, just too kink-oriented for me (but I'm probably in the minority here, not having a developped hypnokink), still, I'm curious where this is gonna go! ^^
