I love it when games do something simple but effective, and this is a good example of that. In Adjacency, whenever you click a space that has colors, the spaces next to it will become that color. Get the inside to match the outline to win. There are mechanics added to make this process more complicated, but each one typically has an easy to understand tutorial puzzle, and it feels well conveyed. The Undo button is functional and helpful, especially when trying for Par. Speaking of, I love the Par system of the game. You could play the entire game without looking at Par, the supposed minimum number of times you need to click the colors to solve the puzzle, or you could have Par always visible, a hint to how many clicks a given level needs. It is a beautiful system I wish more puzzle games had. The only downside I can really think of is in one level pack there’s this sort of… unnerving music, slightly high pitched and anxiety inducing, and it doesn’t feel like it belongs in this otherwise relaxing and thoughtful game. Luckily it seems to just be one level set, so you can mute the game’s audio for a little bit if it gets to you.
