Wizard battle is played by manipulating blocks to try and get a wizard to fall through a maze in 4 or less turns. This means every puzzle is simple and easy to understand, even on puzzles where you can extend the turns by healing your wizard, for a max of 8 turns. Even if you get the puzzle wrong, it’s so quick and easy to try again, which is a breath of fresh air in a scene where complexity makes challenging puzzles. The game does a lot with a little, and I genuinely enjoyed messing around and figuring out what every block did. However, the game is fairly short, meaning some mechanics go slightly under explored, and it ends right as you’re getting good at it. I’d love exploring with starting with the 5x4 grid, then maybe moving to a larger grid as more puzzle mechanics are added. This would allow for slightly more kinds of solutions, while also very slowly expanding scope and not overcrowding the puzzle. However the game is also good as it is, and I’ve never played a game quite like this one.
