Not gamey in the sense of challenges, puzzles etc., A Mortician's Tale shines through its narrative. You play Charlie, a young mortician and new member of a funeral business. It takes about one hour to play through. I enjoyed the color design and background music, and I loved the writing. The game cycles through short phases of emails, preparation of a body, and attending a funeral (listening to conversations). In this structure, nailing the (written) voices of returning characters (co-worker, boss, friend, and later a CEO) and the individuality of other characters (connected to the deceased) is important, and A Mortician's Tale does it admirably.
