ItalianGamerJoe rated LIT

A downloadable game for Windows.

I was obsessed with the original Lit on the Wii growing up. This game stays faithful to the original game with all the original storyline, game mechanics, and even OST and sound effects. Between the two games, the first was definitely more scary since the monsters could get you the moment you stepped out of the light. I do like how this time around, the game keeps you "safe" when it comes to the puzzle mechanics.

I do have some critiques:

  • The circular icons on the right become images of the items in your inventory. When they leave your inventory, however, they go back to being blank again. Can you instead make it so that the item photos always stay there and the number just shows 0? Or make the item photo black and white or something? That way players can get used to the bottom being the lightbulb, the right being the slingshot, etc. Kind of like how Zelda does it.
  • The controls are a little confusing. Maybe I'm just not "getting it" yet, but I think the PC controls could use some tweaking. I'm expecting confirm to be the spacebar or enter, but it isn't. It's just a little confusing.
  • Maybe I haven't gotten far enough yet, but I miss the phone calls that Rachel would give the player.

Overall this is an amazing version of Lit. The developers recreated the magic of the first game very well in this second iteration and I'm so happy to see this on itch.io. Thank you!
