The ONLY "negative" feedback I have for this is that the music loop could be longer/more varied, but I DID put "negative" between quotes, because it's not even that.
Mechanics teach themselves, graphics are cute, clear and easy to read.
Sound effects are even easier to parse – I learned what each sound meant without even noticing it, and then I could tell exactly what each action did before I even registered the visuals.
The audio didn't have quite as much personality as the visuals, but honestly? 1. 48h game jams are hard; 2. 8-bit sound design is limited enough that there's not a lot wiggle room between artistic expression and fulfilling the sound's gameplay function; and 3. the visuals DO have a good amount of personality, so that comparison's almost unfair lol.
This is your FIRST jam game? Wow. Congrats, guys, because it's a lot of fun!
