KoM Studios rated Redshift 7

A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

It has a lot of potential, but it lacks a few crucial features that kill the experience for the newcomer. I'll ennumerate some of these weakpoints:

  • Non-intuitive controls. You need to polish the UI, sometimes I was trying to go back by just pressing ESC but there wasn't any function responding to that. The main issue with this one is the "How to run the game" one. For a developer it's just fine the way it is right now, but for any common player it shouldn't even be something for him/her to worry about, he/she shouldn't even notice it, it should be as simple as 1 or 2 clicks. Less clicks possible = better ergonomy = User friendly UI.
  • There's no introduction to the main mechanics per se. You just get into the station scenario and got to figure out everything from zero, since there are no hints at all. This forces the player to ask for the key bindings everytime he/she needs to get something done. The 'F' key as default interaction was a good choice, though.
  • Glitchy buttons and texts. For some resolutions there's an error that causes some gadgets to tremble, this may be due to dynamic screen coordinates in the code, probably due to decimal variations caused by that specific screen width or height.
