I think that starting this game well into the time loop means we skip over some of the most interesting parts of the story. I thought the best concept was Ellen, days into the perceived time loop, seeing Olivia accidentally die and be fine the next day. What a visceral, frightening concept, and definitely one that could be traumatizing enough to make you try and experiment. I really wish I'd been able to live through that, and learn with our character rather than be told what happened. As it stands, I like the game and the 6 or so different deaths we can perform. I thought going through the loop was a little samey but ultimately fun. The art style, especially during the killings, is super cool and a major draw to this game. But honestly, I think the big reveal in the true ending is unsatisfying. It drops a bunch of sci-fi exposition on us as a twist, but the literal reality of what is happening is far less interesting than the emotional truth of the situation. Learning that Olivia is a clone and Ellen is an android is far less important that learning Olivia remembers everything we've done. I really like the reveal that they were once partners, but I think the conclusion (and the game as a whole) tells too much that it could be showing.
This game is good and I think future games by this developer will be even better. I have criticisms with the writing and gameplay slightly, but the tone and intrigue are phenomenal.
