I like the graphics, but which side am I?

Why can't I place cards most of the time? the space is blue, or does it need to be red? the game gives me no idea what is going on

The cards don't seem to have enough effect, there's no graphics to tell me which guy is buffed or debuffed

I like the concept but I think some room for improvement
