Sworn By Ghostlight: The Ebon Wood Effigies is a fantastic single player tabletop rpg,  where the motive is unknown until you decide it.  I had a great time playing this game, and felt like it was fairly easy to follow. The flow of the story can go in a variety of directions, and you can decide what your obstacles are as the Occult Detective, as well as where it leads you. If you are struggling for names, or ideas, there are a small set of tables that can help guide you in your path and lead you to the killer of the town. I cannot wait to try the Woods of Rot supplement, and come back to this game with a friend in the cooperative mode as well! This game feels very satisfying and can be a great writing exercise in journaling as well. I highly recommend trying this game out and experiencing the mystery yourself!
