+ Amazing art. The Game Boy look works super well and the stills during cutscenes are drawn beautifully.
+ Incredible music. Toby Fox and Camellia almost feels like too much horsepower for what's ultimately an experimental game by a dev learning the ropes of RPG Maker as she goes (and isn't a half bad composer herself!) I haven't been able to get Leaves Fill The Path out of my head since the first time I played this game.
+ Great atmospheric storytelling. While I was a little put off by the lack of a plot at first, I love the way the world slowly unfolds as you discover it.
+ Love the worldbuilding and the characters. Special mention to the character designs; I don't think there's a single one I don't love. Shoutout to Hatsune Miku Rabbit Forme.
- Being a fly on the wall. I wasn't exactly a fan of playing as the standoffish observer Yoki and feeling like an outsider looking in. I get that the game isn't supposed to be super complex but that's just a personal nitpick. I feel like Yoki being more invested in her surroundings and even joining the heroes near the end would have taken this game over the top.
- Even though a map does come with the game, I do feel like the overall map design could have been less complicated. If you're getting lost in your own game, it never hurts to go back and redesign the map even if a frustrating prospect. Fast travel and the hint bird make this way more forgivable though.
Overall a real gem even if on the shorter side. Would love to see you flesh this universe into a full-length RPG!
