This is without a doubt one of the very best examples of what a visual novel can be. A dramatic story between star-crossed lovers set in an alien setting similar to ancient Rome, with subterfuge, manipulation, and political intrigue pressuring the main character (you) to find their way home by helping this clumsy, headstrong, loveable wolf (Amicus) become the emperor. The stakes are high and exciting, but it's also got it's serene romantic moments as the two of you get closer despite of the stressful situations your both in. Be warned, if you get invested in these characters you will cry, a lot, but that just goes to show how engaging of an experience the whole story is. If I have one criticism it's that there are not many choices to make at all, and those choices feel more like a moment for you to act as the character than a choice which impacts the story, at least that's how I felt about it. If you're like me and saw the memes of this hunky wolf man with an arrow on his forehead and went into this thinking "fun sexy furry romp with robes" and I just want to say that this is more like the furry GoT with Roman aesthetic. Overall, give this a read, it's free, it's complete, and it'll do wonderful/terrible things to your heart. What more could you ask for in a visual novel?
