New Version Review:

I still really like the story. Downgrading to 4 stars though because you revamped the whole thing but took out things I loved and put in a new style I don't like as much. Also, it is 15$ now but I think that is just for the art style and VA since nothing much changed in the story. I really just wanted more story so...

Comparing to the old game (inevitable for me):

-The writing reads better and uses slightly less flowery language which is nice. It basically feels like someone did light editing and proofreading, but nothing substantial was added unfortunately. There are fun scenes in the epilogue now, but I wish there were more important conversations about their relationship status, liked/dislikes, past, and general daily interactions.

-I personally don't like voice acting very much for dating games so I can't comment on this aspect (I turned it off). I did read that the person who voiced Fenris does Finn which is really impressive.

ART now:

-. The lighting overall looks slightly darker throughout, but somehow the LIs faces have much less shadow. Very noticeable on Omen's laughing face and August's angry face. I feel like this is making the LIs faces look generally flatter but also sometimes void of emotion when at rest (Ezra's resting face ._.)

-Missing Ezra's more prominent freckles (don't hate me but I miss Ezra's face in general. Finn's looks a little odd too (less sassy somehow), but Ezra's looks really different...). Also, Finn no longer looks like he's biting his lip. Like, I think he's supposed to be biting his lip after flirting with him in the graveyard? I get what it's supposed to be but it doesn't look fully right.

-The old CGs incorporated more glow and light playing across the characters faces and the new ones don't really. I miss that.

- The new CGs also either have much heavier chalky looking outlines (Alkar walking away) or heavier solid lines (Piper in pub). Overall, lining appears to be much thicker in CGs and even thicker on sprites. There are lines to indicate definition instead of shadows I think which makes it look more cartoony (not bad just different). Also, Pipers eyes in the new bar CG are way bigger adding to the cartoony feel.

-Some of the old CGs are still used in the new one and just copied over. This is fine, but it is a bit jarring going from the old familiar CG and then seeing the new more cartoonish and flat sprites... They now suffer from some same face syndrome where they didn't before.

Random things:

- I like that Omen now has 2 blushing faces and is drawn in a more confident way (miss the graveyard CG a lot, but I like the new posture of answering Ezra's door). I feel like this is more consistent with his character in the end being all big and philosophical.

- New save screen looks really nice and polished.

Old Review:

Upgrading to a five star because it is only five dollars. Yeah it's kinda short and very linear, but I think what it offers makes up for that.

cons:

Sappy in parts and used a thesaurus too much at times. It's on the brink of falling into bad fanfiction territory with how fluffy it is at times and how many adjectives/metaphors/similes it uses ("obsidian/raven locks" and all that). I feel the flowery language sacrifices moments where more story development could've taken place. I like the characters and wanted to do more with them. The love interests come on kinda fast for the length and development of the story. I honestly feel guilty splitting Finn and Ezra up or even trying to get with both because of their backstory.

pros:

August is amazing, art is amazing (still solid but not like it was). I really like picking your pronouns. The story is good and characters diverse. Good side character support. Fair replayability. I look forward to their upcoming project!
