While it's clear that this engine is still in development, I am astonished at how much you can accomplish using the current version and how far it has come in such a short window of time. My biggest complaints about the limitations of this engine (other than the ones inherent to Gameboy software, duh) were mostly solved by the 3.0 update and it's clear a lot of continued hard work and dedication are going into GB Studio. This is the most intuitive game development tool I have ever used period. I have literally dreamed of having a tool like this since I got my first Gameboy Color, but never considered it remotely possible, especially not while being this user friendly and versatile. I can't wait to see what's next for it. Definitely worth paying for if you can.
