CelestialLizzie rated Sorry We're Open

A downloadable game for Windows.

This is really adorable, what a cute and funny concept! I can't wait to see more updates of this game and to see what comes next.

I remember the first part of the first episode of Ash vs Evil Dead where Ash was an incompetent associate at S-Mart and I though it was some of the best jokes of that whole show, and I wished that there was a whole comedy/horror show just about working in a big box type store like that. I also work in one, so I think the appeal works even more on me in that way, too.

The sense of humor is great; like when you sneeze without covering your mouth during the day and nobody says anything, but during the night shift someone does. I also like the weird training tape way of introducing combat where it's framed like something you'd be forced to watch at work, the odd blood pools and spatters here and there inexplicably - especially on the mannequins, the 'ghost cart' that appears and disappears and nobody thinks it's strange. I particularly liked the Toilet Meat; I have no idea what, why, or how that thing is, but it's a little creepy and weird in just the right way and I'd love to see what other totally batshit insane things you have to add to this store.

I do want to give you a bit of constructive criticism though... There were a lot of points in this game that felt little too close to working in a big box store, with the monotony. The shifts specifically felt like there wasn't any real substance to them besides a couple funny lines that you see over and over, which, doesn't come close to the awful pain I feel whenever I hear a middle aged man ask "dOeS tHaT mEaN iT's fReE?!" but I do expect after a while it may become more frustrating to hear. It's not just the repeating of jokes, this game is currently  at v 0.2 I understand it doesn't have a lot of content in general yet, including the witty dialogue, but the 'gameplay' in general for the shifts just feels totally vapid and I really only did them to get money... just like in real life. I just think there should be more actual game to do, more things to interact with, things like walking across the store to get something for a customer who complains about something stupid and picks a fight with you when you get back, trying to herd rats up into the incinerator, some kind of interactive game whenever you mop or sweep things up... and speaking of which, is there any real reason I should ever clean during my shift? It feels like the only reason I do it is because I want to avoid the other option, but I spend money on brooms and mops and as far as I know, I get no reward for it. I also don't see any reason to really initiate combat because I don't get any experience points or opportunities to learn new skills (although I did find a card to learn CPR) and I get more money or items or whatever from just working my shift.

Which, maybe that's something you have planned for a future update, I don't know, but I just figured it might be helpful to throw in my two cents in case it'd be helpful!
