[I should mention I played with pregnancy turned off, and I don't know if that potentially changes anything in the story.]
3.5 stars, if the ratings system would allow. A good vn, and even the things I see as deficiencies are fewer in the developer's newer work. It has an intriguing main plot, likable, distinct characters, and clever, well-placed comic relief. One of the things I like the most is how interconnected the characters are and how that ends up taking you to so many different situations. Also, side characters have arcs to them. (Fit Jack.) However, because of the multitude of side characters, I feel like some of them don't get much time to grow beyond first impressions. (The exchange student douchebag.)
Another thing that shines is the way the visuals are changed with scene's dialogue to compliment storytelling. I feel like there's a sense of timing in a lot of the scenes that really benefits with how things are "shot", to put it in film terms. It keeps things visually interesting and sometimes helps suspense, something that sets this apart.
If I had one big complaint, it'd be that all the women seem a bit too willing to accommodate the "harem" genre. It makes sense for someone like, say, Jasmine (best girl, btw), but the two sisters...? It took me out of the story a bit. Judie, especially, who basically confessed her love under a starlit sky, was a little bit too accepting after finding out MC was still boning her best friend, and then after realizing he'd been fucking her sister. It wouldn't have stuck out like a sore thumb for me if the characterization up to that point hadn't been great. That's what I liked about Jasmine, though: her h-scenes were some of the hottest to me because they seemed the most realistic, being a "rich-bitch" with an unsatisfying home life that makes her want to leave home.
All in all, it's probably my favorite AVN that I got from itch, so far, and Eternum is shaping up to be even better. Would play again, and maybe try different paths. There could be a lot that I'm missing here.
