R.J. Mercy rated La Vie en Rose

R.J. Mercy rated a game 4 years ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

The content advisory was no joke. When I played this game for the first time, I ended up on Elijah being the abusive one, and the narrative for Isaac was so mind-bending that LVeR made such a great impression on me. The BGM was perfect, the many UI changes was perfect, the writing was perfect, there really were so many great things wrapped up in this tragic tale that made me feel fear and anxiety and anger and even hope and redemption just like Isaac felt during his terrible stint as the abused.

I had to put the game on the back burner for about a month, but recently came back to finish up the other eight endings. I had looked at the route page - super neat, by the way, I love the rose vines and the way the colors change depending on the route - but seeing there was a large branch did nothing to prepare me for what was to come. I had no clue AT ALL that the story could be swapped with Isaac as the abuser. I managed to get Change of Heart as my first ending on that one, but gosh, let me tell you that I did shed a few tears during the route, and that's not something that happens often for me.
