*4/5 Stars review*
After losing a quite a few family members, I have seen the dark side of the corporate Death Machine funeral homes. I also have a cousin that works as a funeral director who assisted with the burial of a sibling of mine, who helped my family save a lot of money on something as silly as a casket you will literally only see once.
The writing was very good. The gameplay was mediocre (quite bored by the repetitive nature of it, but it's a short game) but I was educated on a couple finer points of the embalming process. In the end, it did get me thinking of how we bury our dead. It nailed the mood and some conversations you will hear at funerals, so it achieved it's goal. It's not a 'fun' game, but it does get you to consider the effects of burial processes and other methods for potentially leaving the environment we leave for the next generations. One big missed point: There is no talk of an afterlife. Religion seems frowned upon in this game, I get the point of being neutral to the grieving family... but who cares what you leave for those after you if you're an atheist? It's asinine not to be a hedonistic nihilist with that view. Everybody dies anyway.
