Kicking Off My Game Design Adventure with an Escape Platformer

Hey Everyone!

As I just wrapped up my first-ever game design workshop, I’m totally pumped to keep learning and building. My first crack at making games showed me how far we've come with tech for simple platformers, and boy, there's a lot more to it than I expected!

What I’m Working On: The Great Escape Game

So, here’s the scoop on my game project: it’s an escape-style game where you start off trapped in a level and have to dodge enemies and grab items to unlock the door to the next level. Sounds fun, right? The aim is to keep you on your toes as you try to find the best path and not get caught!

Focus and Features

I’ve gone through a few versions of the game idea and finally decided to nail down the essentials first—starting points, endpoints, the baddies, and those all-important collectibles. Given the tight timeline, I’ve opted to perfect one solid level instead of adding more. This way, I make sure the basics are rock-solid before I think about expanding the game.

 What’s Next?

This first project has been a real eye-opener into what goes into making a game enjoyable and functional. I’m excited to keep tweaking this game, maybe add more levels, or throw in some cool new features based on how this first stage goes.
