Problem with Itch.io and payment processors.

Hey everyone,

This is an informative post I need to make to tell you about a problem that the Itch.io platform is going through.

For several weeks, and even months, itch.io (like other platforms) has been affected by a religious group known as "Collective Shout."

I’m not going to go into detail about that, because in my case it shouldn’t affect me since this is mainly focused on "NSFW" content. However, the situation is so complicated that itch.io is having serious issues with payment processors.

This causes extensive delays in payments to developers, in other words, to me. There are cases where money has been withheld for a very long time. Some developers have gone more than 70/80 days without being paid. (You can visit the itch.io support page and you’ll see that it’s full of these cases: https://itch.io/board/10023/questions-support )

This is why the situation is also affecting me, since the payments made by you during the last days of July and throughout the month of August have not been paid to me. As you know, I rely on your support to keep all our content afloat, and it’s really frustrating that itch.io doesn’t provide us with greater transparency about the situation. We don’t know how long it will take to return to normal, but as you can imagine, I can’t keep dealing with such long delays in receiving payments since bills and debts don’t wait.

Itch.io offers 2 methods of collecting money:

Funds on account and Direct Payment.

Until now, most developers have chosen to use Funds on account, since it makes tax processing, management, and other things much easier for us, and it also offered the possibility for users to pay with more methods within the platform. However, I’m going to have to switch the payment method to Direct Payment.

In my region, I only have PayPal available, which means that payments through Stripe or direct card payments on itch.io will not be available for now until this situation returns to normal.

So I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and I invite you to use PayPal to keep supporting me. Believe me, I’m really concerned about the future of the platform because this situation looks quite complicated...

Thanks for understanding.

Best regards!

collectives shout should be disbanded

They can go protest, march, do whatever they want, but the thing is they shouldn’t bother the rest of us who have nothing to do with it. We’re literally paying the price for something that doesn’t even involve us, and it’s ridiculous that such big companies give so much importance to something that has been this way for years. By that logic, they should also go after adult websites, magazines, books, and so on.

I just don’t understand how they have so much influence to affect payment providers. To me, there’s clearly a lot more going on than what we’re being told. Anyway… I really hope this whole mess gets back to normal once and for all.
