Hey everyone!

This is the first proper devlog for our game Twelve Floors Below. It will contain a short introduction of the people working on this game, what we've been building so far, and what we're planning to do next. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Also, this is the first time either of us makes a devlog, which is why it's so weirdly formal. We're working on it, promise <3

We're two people working on the game. Agnes, who's the main game developer, and Mirjam, who before this project had not worked in game development, but instead is a very talented musician. Agnes has been doing the unity-related work, such as programming and game design. Mirjam has mostly been in charge of the audio, but also rewritten parts of the script.

What we have so far is the basics. The game is very story based, and the main thing missing at the moment is, well, the dialogue. Over the next few weeks we'll hopefully be able to add both the audio and the subtitles for the audio, and then we hope to release a demo version of the first "chapter."

We're really looking forward to this process, and hope you do too!

We post devlogs every Monday, and our game can be found here.

This sounds interesting. What game engine are you using?

Hi, thank you so much. We're working in Unity!

Very cool, best of luck on your project!

Thanks!

Hey everyone!

We've managed to get a lot done this week. Our main goal was to work on the audio of the scene, but once that was done there happened to be a lot of extra time to play around with the visual aspect of the game as well! The biggest change visually is the textures, but we have also added some particle effects and animated the lights, as you will be able to see in the video. When it comes to audio, we've added basically all the audio we will need in the elevator except for the dialogue.  If you like spooky audio you should really check out the video, preferrably whilst wearing headphones to get the best effect.

For next week we're going to start adding in the dialogue, and the subtitles.  After that is done we should be able to upload a free demo of the game. However, there is a lot of dialogue and it might take more than a week to get it done.

If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask!

Hi everyone!

This week has been quite eventful in our private lives, which means that it has been pretty uneventful when it comes to the development of our game. However, we do have  a very clear plan for the near future, and would like to share that plan with you after showing the updates we do have for our project.

This week, we've looked at the interior design of our game, and fixed two things that have been bugging us for quite some time. The biggest thing being a lamp for the ceiling, which we have been putting off for a while since it wasn't needed for the game to work. Also, we've had  a hard time deciding on a lamp design that will both fit the aestetic of the game and also not be butt-ugly. We went for a very simple model that might be a bit too fancy, but it works for now. If you have any suggestions of ceiling lamps that would fit better, please let us know! We also updated the elevator keypad a bit, simply cause we didnt like the look of the old one. Feel free to have opinions on this as well. We include several pictures today, both of actual gameplay but also from outside the scene, where it's easier to get everything in frame.

As we said before, our plan over the next weeks is pretty mapped out. The big thing left to do before we can release a demo is to go through the voice acting clips we recorded a few weeks back, choose which ones to use and then write subtitles to match. It's one project, but it's a big one, and will take a few weeks to get done. Hopefully for next weeks update we will be able to tell you we have gotten a big chunk done!

Thank you for reading, and if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask!

Hello everyone!

Another Monday, another devlog! This week we've done two things, we've re-done our main menu and we've properly started to add in the dialogue and subtitles.  Over the next weeks we'll continue working on adding in dialogue. We've laid the ground work down so we just have to trim the audio clips, add them in in the right order, and fix subtitles to match. Basically, very easy work but it will take some time! Hopefully by next week we can can tell you we've come a long way with adding in the dialogue :)

For now though, this is bascally it. Feel free to check out the video we've recorded of the new main menu if you'd like, and stay tuned for next week.

Thank you for reading, and if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask!

Hello everyone!

Not gonna lie, this week has been hectic. We're making progress in the audio and subtitles department, and we're full of energy for next week, for when we have big plans! As we get more work done, the demo gets closer, and with that, we will also soon have enough material to make a trailer! This is really exciting, as we haven't really given you any of the story yet. But, with the trailer, we'll also be giving you a small sample of what the game is truly about. We don't make promises we can't keep, so we won't say the trailer is done by next monday, however, it's not unlikely it will be done next week.

We don't have any videos or pictures of our progress this week, so we attached a clip of when we were bad at coding and all our dialogue clips were renamed jeff earlier this week. Enjoy!

Thank you for reading, and if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask!

Hi everyone!

This past week, we've continued to add in dialogue to the game, and we've also made a short video to showcase it! We don't want to spoil too much though, so the video is just a sneak peek of the first two minutes of gameplay :) For next week we're planning to get all the dialogue done for the demo, with subtitles and everything. After that, there isn't much left to do except minor bug fixing and of course playtesting.  Hope you will enjoy the video, and we welcome any and all feedback!

If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask!

Hi everyone!

Some quick updates this week. All of the main audio for the demo has been added to the game! All we have left before we can release it are a few small features. Most of this will hopefully be done next week, and after that we plan on spending at least one week on game testing, to make sure everything is in prime condition for you guys, and then you will have a demo :) Really looking forward to showing you guys what's been going on behind the scenes!!

As always, thank you for reading, and if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask!

PS. I think I've been posting all devlogs in this thread as replies to the first one, which would be an incorrect way of doing things? If this is the case, I am sorry, and this is embarrassing :/. You can find all of the devlogs in the right order, right here! Thank you for your time :)

Hi everyone!

We've gotten some stuff done this week, mostly tweaking. We'll be doing some gametesting ourselves and fix small things that needs fixing this week, and hopefully next week we can send it out for other people to gametest! We're really looking forward to showing this to you guys.

Hi everyone!

We're getting close every week to releasing the demo! Right now we're building the package we'll send our game testers, and once we've gotten their opinions and polished whatever needs polishing, the demo will be out! It's so close now! Since last time, we've gotten a lot of small things done like a menu for when the game is paused, and a lot of bug fixing. Looking forward to showing you guys the final product, there really isn't much left to do!

Hi everyone!

It's happening! Last week we sent our demo to our game testers, who came with lots of good ideas for how to make it even better. We've looked it over and are now 100% certain the demo will be done and up on the page to play, for free, next week. This has been a while in the making, a bit longer than we'd have liked honestly, but we're here! Now it's just the final few things to fix before we can share it with you as well.  We hope you're as excited fot it as we are!

Hi everyone!

A few exciting things have happened since last time! First of all, IndieGamiacs played our demo on his latest stream! You can watch it here, if you'd like (he starts playing our game about 40 mins into the stream. ) As you might have seen in our last devlog, this is also the week we'll be releasing the demo for you to play! Some bugs were found during the stream and we feel like it would be smart to do a little bit more game testing before official release, but on Saturday you can look forward to finally playing the demo for yourself! we're very excited about this, and hope you are too :)

Hi everyone!

The demo is out! If you have any feedback, don't be afraid to share (this is the first time we're publishing a game after all ^^) We've also uploaded some new pics, of what the game looks like currently.  There isn't really much more to say, except that we're really excited to share this with you. We really hope that you enjoy it.

Hi everyone!

What a week! We released our demo! Thank you everyone who played, we hope you've enjoyed it :) Tomorrow TabooTiger will play our demo, among other things, on his stream at 7:30pm ET. Come watch it if you'd like. You can find his account here, one of us will be in chat during the stream as well to respond to any questions.

So what's the plan for this week? Honestly, we will probably not get much done this week, as we've got quite a lot of work to get done on our day job, after only working on the demo most of last week. In the coming weeks however, we will start working on the rest of the game, which we hope to release in the spring next year.

Hi everyone!

Not much to write this week, we've been dealing with the responsibilities we've been ignoring whilst polishing up the demo for the last weeks. We're really excited to get going with the rest of the game though! Next week we will probably have more updates :)

Heya!

Not much to say this week unfortunately, we've been making some small updates and slowly but surely worked towards releasing the game :)

We post weekly devlogs to keep you in the loop, but onfortunately this means they are sometimes short. Hope you've been having a good holiday, and that you are just as stoked for the new year as we are!

Hi everyone!

We're still a bit slow on progress as other projects have been taking up a lot of time but we will hopefully get going in this coming week. We hope you're excited to see the final prouct in a not too distant future :) We have a very good view of the road ahead, and all we have left over these coming months is to get it done. Hope you've had a wonderful new year!

Hello everyone!

Got some new graphics for you this time! This is what we've been working on, and what we plan on continuing to work on this coming week. After we have the graphic elements done, we'll move on to adding in the remaining dialogue and coding.

Hey everyone!

This week we've built an office, a staircase, and worked on the script. The office still needs furniture, and some love in general, but we'd say the general vibe is there! For next week, we'll be working on adding more furniture and make sure to have all rooms done for the final game.

Hi everyone!

This week has been a busy one, so unfortunately we don't have too many new updates. We've been looking into publishing on steam, and planning how to move forward with the game. Hopefully next devlog will contain more updates :)

Hi everyone!

We've looked at our current situation and decided to take a little break from game development in general, and also from these devlogs. We have a lot of school work these coming weeks, and would like to focus whole heartedly on that, so we can give our all to this game when everything is a little bit calmer. Really looking forwards to being able to jump back into this project with new energy in a few weeks time!
