Stuck on start screen (Xbox)

Hey there!  Game looks fascinating, but I haven't been able to play it on the Xbox One, as the screen which prompts "press any button to start" doesn't respond to any buttons.  Tried un- and re-installing it, but no go.  Quite eager to see the game, hope you can help!

Sorry for the late response, I missed this one... That's bizarre! Are you using a gamepad or do you have a keyboard plugged in? Any special system-wide settings we should know about (accessibility, etc)?

Gamepad, yeah... I don't think there's anything unusual in my settings, unless there's some sort of app permission that needs to be turned on or something.  It's a wireless controller, if that's somehow relevant.

Just to be super clear, the rest of Hypnospace appears to work fine, just the Outlaw "game-within-a-game" does not respond to button prompts?

My turn to apologize for a delayed reply :)  I'm afraid it's the whole thing that doesn't work.  When I start it, I just get the developer logos, then a screen with a large triangle-sort-of-robot symbol and the "press any key" text, which doesn't respond to anything I do with the controller.

Ah! You're the second person to report this issue. I wonder what is in common with the two of you... can you email me at michaeltl88@gmail.com and we can try to figure it out from there?

hey there! I’m also having this issue, on Xbox one with a wired 3rd party controller. I downloaded the game through game pass if that makes a difference. Hoping that the issue has been resolved but if not im happy to email whoever.

With C-Robin the issue turned out to be that there were multiple controllers plugged in and the game got confused where input was coming from.  Try disconnecting all controllers other than the one you want to play with, including wireless and wired controllers (and dongles).  If it still does not work try removing all other USB devices and try again.  Please restart your Xbox and try again if any of the above does not work the first try :)
