Hey, guys!

Today I want to announce my new game that I will be working on!

VINICIUS will be an action-adventure game with shooter and puzzle elements. You play as Vinicius, a strange living orgranism, who has to prove that he's strong, capable of surviving in this weird world in order to be accepted by the society of same creatures of his kind. But what is this place? What are these "monsters"? Welcome to MAEFE.

I will be using this page to update about the development process. It probably won't be daily, weekly or monthly. I will be doing posts on the topic as I make any huge procces on the game!

For now I can say that the prototype is done. By prototype I mean sorts of a test room full of basic mechanics that the game will have. Well, that's it for now! Come visit me again when there will be more to share! ;)

VINICIUS DEVELOPMENT 13.08

Hello, everyone!

Today I managed to create a whole boss stage!

The whole game will have 4 big locations, each having a boss fight in the end. Earlier this week I built one of these location. It's a starting one, not too big, enemies aren't that hard to kill It will be a begining one, so the player can get used to the controls and such.

I think the boss stage was the most fun of all. The boss itself is a huge creature, spinning around, sending its little minions to stop you. To kill the monsters you have to get rid of his eyes. The problem is you have limited time to shoot at them as they close from time to time. At the end of a boss fight you'll be able to get a new ability and unlock a new location! (that I wll be working on next).

The hardest part was animating. To get everything done properly each part of the boss had to be animated. As I'm not a great artist or animator I had to spend some time on that. Also! The most interesting part for me is that I've found out that in Unity you can change script's parameters from another script without the parameters being static. This will be very useful in development, as some of my ideas will require a same system.

The whole location for this section of the game is uh.. not too *alive*. I will be tweaking some enemies, enemies patrol points and such. As well I want to add some living creatures in the background, maybe some of them will be able to interact with the player. Maefe is a strange world after all.

VINICIUS DEVELOPMENT 21.08

Hello, eveyrone!

Today I'm going to show you more useful and interesting feautres that will be in the game.

There were a few minor changes as well: buttons in main and pause menus now have sounds, player hitting obstacles also creates sounds, a few living background creatures have been added to a few locations.

WEAPON SELECTOR

On the top left corner there now will be an ui element wich shows what type of weapon you're using. There will be 4 different weapons, wich you'll be able to swap with 1,2,3 and 4 buttons. Changing weapon also has a unique sound.

EXTRAS MENU

The game will of course have a lot of secrets, wich may tell you more about the lore. All new information you've collected now can be viewed in main menu! Basically I just got it working. Next step will be the creation of these textes that will contain the information.

NEXT LOCATION

As you remember the game will have 4 different zones with unique levels and enemies! I'm not really done will the first zone, still have to do changes to it, but I as well started working on the next zone. I won't tell much secrets about it, but have a look, try to guess what it all will be about ;)

SOUNDTRACK - VOL. 1

VINICIUS DEVELOPMENT 28.08

Hello, eveyrone!

Today the fully functional main menu has been done. Plus progress saving features.

As I want game to be playable even after closing it, I needed some player data to be saved. I've used Unity's PlayerPrefs. To make the development much easier, I've installed an asset from the Asset Store. It provides an editor for all PlayerPrefs. It's very useful during the development! Feautres like player's weapons, unlocked locations and secrets will be using PlayerPrefs.

So now to the interesing part! First of all I want to say is that Main Menu was done much earlier. But there was sort of an error and my scene got "damaged" and couldn't be opened. I tried everything I could to fix that, but unfortunetly I had to rebuilt the whole scene. I hope there won't be any moments like that in the future.

In Options menu you'll be able to turn on/off Post-Processing effects and Fullscreen mode. As well you'll be able to change quality of the game and monitor's resolution. These are very basic options that should be in any game. Got me 1-2 days to understand how everything works tbh. Extra menu is also functional. There you can access extra content for the game: lore details, bonus mini-game levels and maybe more.

BUT!!!!

I'm still just a student. And school time is very very close. I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to work on the game as much as I could now. I still will be developing the game, but in much slower pace. For anyone who is interested in the project, I'm sorry if there won't be any news or content.

But stay tuned and see you next time!
