Having issues at end of setup error EPERM : operation not permitted. Tried multiple solutions that aren't working.

Before I made this post I looked through odl threads posted here and it seems this issue has popped up a few times.  Some of the solutions I've seen suggested were uninstalling and reinstalling, running as administrator, troubleshooting, turning antivirus software off during the install process, all tried and failed.  I run malwarebytes and webroot together on windows 10 if it's relevant.  Not sure what else to try at this point. I've added the exceptions recommended by the setup guild except for %APPDATA%\itch\prereqs because when putting it the search bar a file named for it couldn't be found but I'm not sure it's relevant if it didn't work with antivirus turned off.

Any ideas?

From what I can see, the error suggests that a previous version installed is causing the problem.

Please keep in mind I’m not related to the butler project, please be careful trying anything I suggest.

Try uninstalling butler, and then take a look at the folder in the error message (C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/itch/broth/butler) and see if that’s still there. If it is, then maybe try deleting it before installing butler again? Keep in mind if you do that, you will lose data related to butler on your machine.

As far as I’m aware, the AppData folder is used to store local data related to a program. If that program is uninstalled, the folder in AppData of that program should be able to be removed without issues.

So  windows updated and after that it worked fine so I guess that fixed it. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
