All about Rogue Summoner

Rogue Summoner is a roguelike about summoning creatures to fight for you. It's a unique blend between turn-based tactics, roguelikes, strategy, auto battlers and even chess!

 


 After you create your strategy, the enemies will do their move, then, your creatures, each according to their behavior. To become a Rogue Summoner you must master each monster's behavior and use them creatively in combat.

My brother and I are developing the game with a lot of care and we hope you love it as well!



Rogue Summoner is a turn-based tactics roguelike about conjuring creatures to fight in your stead. It's a game about mastering different monster behaviors and using them creatively in combat.

You will dive deep into different types of procedurally-generated dungeons, each with its unique difficulty, size and creatures. Death in each one means starting over from the very beginning of the dungeon, with no upgrades nor monsters in your loadout. But with death comes understanding and hidden knowledge of the dungeons' secrets.

As you master each unique creature, you will be able to optimize your strategy by exploiting their weaknesses when fighting against them, and leveraging their strengths when summoning them. Every creature you defeat can be added to your loadout, from a half-witted spider to the great Morthgaal.


  • Explore several types of procedurally generated dungeons, each with its unique theme, difficulty and monsters
  • Summon every creature you encounter, from spineless minions to mighty bosses
  • Master and combine different behaviors creatively
  • Create and Execute your strategy in a turn-based, table-top combat system
  • Cast your own combos with different monsters, magic potions and rune spells
  • Upgrade your skills as you level up and go deeper into the dungeons
  • Become the Rogue Summoner - no matter how many deaths it takes

Why did we choose Early Access for Rogue Summoner?

We want to make Rogue Summoner the best it can be! In order to do so, we need your help. We'd love to hear what you think about the game. All feedback will be welcomed and we'll do our very best to make Rogue Summoner awesome!

We plan to constantly update the game, at least one major update per month. The updates will consist mainly in new dungeons, monsters, items and themes. And, of course, we'll also improve the game based on your feedback and keep fixing any existing bugs.

Our goal is to release Rogue Summoner this year. The exact date will depend on how long it takes to take it to the next level. We have at least two major updates planned for the early access. If you purchase the game, you'll (of course) have access to all the early access updates as well as the release version when the game comes out (and the post-launch updates).

My brother and I are crafting Rogue Summoner with a lot of care, and we hope you love it as much as we do :)

Improving the Particles FX

Hello fellow summoners!

We have just updated the game to version 0.3.2.

You can expect some particle effects (and sound effects) improvements, especially regarding the Magic Door interactions. :)


There were other improvements as well, like keeping the rotation of placing monsters even when changing monsters and a bug  fix where a rock would spawn inside the mage.

Of course, we will keep improving the game!

If you have any feedbacks on the game, they would be really appreciated!

There were some major balancing changes in the first two dungeons (especially regarding the size of the Skeleton Dungeon) as well as several bug fixes. :)

Major Update!

Hello fellow summoners!

There has been a major update on Rogue Summoner's free Demo! https://gamecraftstudios.itch.io/rogue-summoner

A lot of players said that the game was too difficult and that it wasn't clear to how the enemies would react to your strategy. Because of that, we have implemented the prediction system: a system that helps you make your strategy by showing in real-time how the enemies will react to your summons. Check it out!

Another great addition to the game was its story! It's something that we wanted to do from the very beginning and we're are very happy to have finished it!

"The first Rogue Summoner was, of course, Aktis Half-Head. The story of how he got that nickname is paramount to understanding what it means to become Rogue."

And lastly, there has been several bug fixes  and small improvements. One that I'm very happy with is the ability to use the scroll wheel to rotate your monsters. With this implemented, the entire game can be played exclusively with the mouse, making it more accessible!

[MAJOR UPDATE]

New Game Mechanics: Magic Rings, Power Rocks


Hello, friends!

We continue to work very hard on Rogue Summoner to improve it continually!

We heard great things about the Prediction System we added in an update a few days ago, and today we added two new major game systems!

Magic Rings

Some of you mentioned that the game could use more kinds of items so we added Magic Rings!

They will give you an edge in combat (but are not so easy to get!). :)

Power Rocks

Scattered throughout the randomly generated dungeons, you may now come across a Power Rock (not to be confused with Power Metal).

They will change the dynamic of combat on a certain place in the board: like buffing the monsters, making it more expensive to summon them or nullify the mana gain from the enemies.

You will find 16 kinds of Power Rocks on your adventures and each one will make you adapt your strategy!

Thank you to everyone who gave ideas for Rogue Summoner! We think these were great additions to the game and we'd love to hear what you think about it!

Hello, friends!

I bring you another BIG update for Rogue Summoner (and its Demo). Here are some highlights of what you will find now in your adventures:

Destructible Crystals

You will come across rare crystals in your runs - both ally and enemy. An enemy crystal must be destroyed, while an ally crystal must be protected. If you succeed, you can expect handsome rewards!

New Magic Rings

There are 5 new magic rings in the game - and you can also stack them up! Here is how they look:

Luckily, the summoner is far enough from the camera that we don't have to make him wear 20+ rings... :P

Constant Improvements

There were other fixes and rebalances throughout all dungeons. Thanks to everyone who has been playing and giving their feedback. As you can see, we really appreciate it and are using it to make the game better!

Hello folks!

Today we have a very special update for you, because we have included some features that have been requested by some players!

Minimap

No more needless wondering! You can now see where are you in the current level (as well as which level you are).

Bestiary

Learn all about the creatures you will fight against (and with) in your adventures! When you kill a creature 10 times it will show up in your bestiary, so you can reference its behavior whenever you need.

Library

After you collect a book, it will show up in your library. Now can read about Aktis Head-Head, Licos the Double-And-A-Half-Turn, Jairus Out-Of-The-Blue and all the other Rogue Summoners in one go!

Update #v0.12.0 - New Endless Game Mode!

Hello, friend!

In this exciting update, we added a new dungeon with a new game mode: True Rogue.



It is an endless adventure with increasing difficulty, where all the previous enemies will show up.

Hopefully you had a chance to learn the monsters' behaviors before, because in this dungeon they will combine in surprising ways testing even your best strategies.

Launch Date and Version 1.0.0!

Hello everyone! We are very excited to announce that Rogue Summoner will be released on September 3rd 2020!


   

 It has been a wonderful development journey and we are super happy with the result.

Today, we finished all the content for the game and released version 1.0.0 for our Early Access players!

There are 40 unique monsters and 9 types of procedurally-generated dungeons, including the two endless modes!

In the next 3 weeks (before launch) we will test the game thoroughly and squash all the nasty bugs!
