Looking for the all mighty feedbacks

What is our game : Turbo Battle Tanks is a local confrontation game. This means that it needs at leas 2 players on the same computer.

The gameplay is simple : you have 2 tanks on the screen, each one controlled by the extremity of the computer's keyboard. You have to destroy your opponent 10 times in order  to win. This is as simple as it seems.

There is multiple game modes as well as a tournament mode, with the ability to play with up to 8 players.

We would love to have any kind of feedbacks, regarding the game, its itchio page or even the trailer. Really anything could help us !

Hi Turbo Developement Team,

Congrats on the new game! Even getting something to early access is difficult enough. Hope the rest of the development goes well.

Since the game is on sale for money, I decided to give some feedback based on the game’s page and trailer, hope that will help.

  • I like the background that you chose for your game’s page, but it doesn’t tile vertically in a nice way. A quick improvement would be something like “mirroring” the image vertically, although that would make the image bigger in size.

(yeah really this is fun we promise).

  • This might be just me, but when reading this, it feels like the person who wrote it is saying “Everything up until now has been bad at presenting the game, but it gets better”. The rest of the text feels full of energy, and confidence in the project, I think this line is the opposite of that.

What is the best way to spend a boring evening you say ? Of course, to destroy your friends ! Turbo Battle Tanks offers you the possibility to confront your friends on the same computer

  • I like the energetic “attitude” this copy gives, and that it makes it clear this is only for local multiplayer, and not online.

  • The page repeats many times that this game can be played with 2 to 8 players. I don’t think the repetition is needed. The copy is not a lot, and most users will read most of it, but may give up if they realise it’s repeating itself.

THIS GAME IS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT, so there will be a lot more content oncoming (you won’t regret spending 1$, even if we know you are stingy), please check for updates sometimes.

  • I see where you are coming from when writing this, unfortunately I think some users won’t, and might feel like not “investing” into an indie game that calls them “stingy”. I’m not sure if the expectation of users are different in the indie scene, but in normal circumstances, users are expected to buy a game for what is already done. Future updates are an amazing plus.

This was about the game’s page, now on to the trailer:

  • When a tank is hit, I can see both tanks instantly “teleport” to their starting positions. This doesn’t look good, and from the trailer I can’t tell if that’s how it happens in the game itself, or it’s some video editing that just doesn’t look good. It would be better if the tanks had an animation for being destroyed, and one for re-appearing.

  • I think the stages could use some improvement. I’ve seen a few stages on the trailer, and some on the game’s page as screenshots, and they feel like they are too alike. It might help if you try to think of it from a user’s perspective, if they play a stage, what will they remember from it? It would be more fun for users to say “Let’s play the stage with the river!” than to say “Let’s play one of the jungle stages”. I used the example with the river, because the stage that you have with the river seems to be doing that well, but the rest of the stages seem quite forgettable.

  • There should be some transition between different maps, as they are now changing in one frame.

Some minor feedback for the game:

  • The game seems fun and straightforward. But is there anything more than shooting opponents? Something like upgrading weapons, picking pick-ups, interacting with the environment? If that’s already in your game, I would strongly advice you to show this somewhere, as they are the little things that can help show the game as even more fun!

  • Since this is a game for local multiplayer, I think it might help to mention things like, does is support controllers? Can you customise the inputs?

  • It is mentioned multiple times that this game supports up to 8 players, but from what I understand only 2 players can play at a time. If I was a user, looking for a game to play with 7 of my friends, I wouldn’t be as happy to find out we can only play 2 at a time, when in other games 8 players can play at once.

That’s all I could pick up for now. Sorry for the wall of text.

Obviously everything I’ve mentioned is my opinion based on my experience, so feel free to pick only the feedback that you like :)

Wow thank you so much, this is really helpful ! There is so many things we dind’t even thought. This is a pleasure to read and to have those sorts of feedbacks.

We will seriously think about all you said and try to improve what we can !

Really, thanks again.
