Single Player or Co-Op

I'm interested in whether people would be more interested in local multiplayer game or a single player games right now.  I have lots of ideas for both, but I'm not sure where the demand lies these days.  On the one hand, people can't have friends over like they used to but, on the other hand, people might be looking for something fun to do with they're families that they're stuck with all day.  I also noticing a big chunk of my referrals are from people searching for local co-op.  So if you want to leave a comment about which you would most like and why, I would really appreciate that (I'm not in any place to make this an online multiplayer or "Jackbox" style game right now).

i prefer a co op game.  However, it is hard to get into a co op game you dont know.  I have recently made a co op game and ended up making it playable single player as well due to what people were saying, " i want to play this but i have noone!"

I dont know if there is a right answer.  Both could be popular.  Depends how good the game is more than wether it single player or mulitplayer.

At the very least, if you make a co op game, make it super intuitive.  The mental state of two friends looking to have fun togther isnt one that suits having to read a manual and reverse engineer a complicated game!

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind!  But I do feel like there's an over-abundance of mindless co-op games where you just zone out and shoot things or whatever.  If I made a co-op game I'd want to make something that asks something of its players, like Overcooked or Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, where you really have to communicate to work together.  Actually, I wasn't even thinking about co-op much, but I love co-op games!

But yeah, it has to be something you can communicate to the player easily, and that's tricky.
