Enlightenment

Hey everyone! Enlightenment is the first project that I feel I have the motivation to finish. I started working on it exactly on 30.04.2020. Levels, items and bosses are inspired by meditation that I started practicing quite a few years ago but that's a story for another time. The game is semi-random generated with levels consisting of premade rooms. I feel like either you are searching for deeper meaning in simple games or you are just for the fun it will fit well for both. The game is being developed in Unity engine so far only by myself, well except for textures and trees - I got the from asset store :)

There's a very early gameplay of first level "Earth" in the game:

I hope you enjoyed the project so far, it would be great to get some feedback from you :)

Stay tuned for more updates!

Update #1 - 18.05.2020

1. Revamped first level

2. Created base for second level

3. Created base for main menu

4. Simple button (can be triggered with sword, enemy weapon or body part, pretty much anything)

5. Optimized maps by only rendering neighbour rooms

6. Added minimap

Update #2 - 21.05.2020

1. Added 4 new items

2. Player now changes color depending on picked up items

3. You no longer throw your sword, you uhhh... shoot the sword? It came out very not intuitive in playtesting and this system is just way more fun. Also it uses chi as it is very op without it.

4. Added some fading between scenes

5. Misc:

-Damage is now calculated by rotation difference rather that rigidbody velocity, it was very inconsistent

     -Enemies have smoother movement

-Added more rooms to second level

Update #3 - 24.05.2020

Link to playable demo in the description of video below

-Added second boss

-First version of third level aswell as third boss

-Weapon trails

-Changes to first two bosses

-Added 4 new items

-HUGE shout out to Scott Buckley for making his music under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license

Update #4 - 27.05.2020

1. Options menu

2. In-game pause (will add music volume and main volume sliders later on)

3. Finished base version of 4th level - Air (no boss sneak-peaks :))

4. Misc: fixed enemy bodyparts dismember bug (they would explode if framerate was too high), smoother weapon trails, fixed some dashing problems

Update #5 - 05.06.2020

1. Finished bases for all 7 levels

2. Done creating all bosses mechanics

No spoilers :)

3. Added chests 10% to drop nothing, 10% to drop item, 80% to drop heart

4. New type of item - switchable weapons, you have to pick one and leave the old one behind

5. Misc:

- If sword gets stuck somewhere it will teleport back into your hands in 10 seconds

- Fixed bug in mechanic above ^ the sword would teleport but also would get stuck in air

- Nerfer throw damage on bosses, it was way too easy to just poke throw them
