About the Gameplay:
In Butcher Bunny it's your goal to get into a haunted house. Once inside, you see that something is off,. You have to search for keys to open doors, getting you to the next level or items that will make it easier for you to grasp your surroundings.
Being aware of your surroundings becomes especially important since you will notice that you are not alone. The "Butcher Bunny" follows you, tries to keep you from getting that needed key and of course wants to kill you!
Developement process:
I made this Game in about a week. I first started out with my own pixel-art-graphics and without a CRT-Filter, this one ramped the whole experience up though. With most assets created by a good friend of mine (@Ghostalieart), the Game now looked kind of like an arcade game.
Embracing this artstyle made it obvious to also have an arcady playstyle, where the Game-Mechanics mostly rely on Upgrades by picking up Items. Programming these made me face new challenges in being a developer and I definitely learned a lot of new stuff with this project!
Tools used:
To program my Games I use the GameMakerStudio2 Software, just because I got used to it by now and can be working comfortable with it.
To make the sprites my friend and I used Aseprite, and to get also the sounds of the Game fitting, I used an Audacity Bitcrush-Addon, which helps with getting 8Bit like Sounds.
Giving me feedback would be really valued, to round up this learning-phase of mine. I hope you find my Game interesting!
