its very hard from the start ! i had to go to the extra health almost straight away , but when you respawn at a checkpoint after dying it only gives you 3 parts of health and all the previous enemies respawn around you ... this leads to you taking a hit or two straight away before you can do anything .
also , after respawning you lose any upgrade you had making it even harder !

I made it hard intentionally, since I’m personally more into hardcore Souls-like games. At the same time, I made sure there are no dead ends and that the game is technically passable from start to finish without losing any health. I should probably mention that somewhere.
That said, to get through the levels, you need to learn the mechanics and layouts with each replay. For the final product, the learning curve should probably be smoother than it is now. Your point totally makes sense.
For me personally, there’s still solid replayability in trying to beat a stage again, since I always find them challenging but fair and realistically beatable.
Also, losing the multi-gun on respawn is kind of by design, since it encourages you to clear the level without dying if you want to keep the best gun possible.
With all that in mind, do you think you could still find the game enjoyable because of the challenge and the feeling of mastering it? Or did you mostly feel lost and want to drop it?
hiya , sadly ive already given up on this - not because its bad , just because its too flawed for me .... checkpoints that respawn you with about 6 enemies attacking you is never good , not respawnimg with full health also sucks , enemies off screen firing at you so there are random bullets coming at you is also a pain ! and some of the enemies placements make it really hard to get a shot in before they hit you ...
struggled with the jump mechanics at a few points as well , especially the disappearing platforms , there seemed to be some sort of delay limiting the jump height so often ended up missing them and ending up in the acid below
finally , losing the upgrade you had before dying makes it extremely difficult to carry on forward - the upgrade was there for a reason im guessing ?
so moving forward is almost impossible without it and i havent tried backtracking so im not sure if they are gainable again ?
as i said , not a bad game at all - i like the movement , flow and style but not the gameplay
