Linux support?

Hey, this looks (sounds heh) great!

How well does it run via wine on Linux? I don't have a Windows machine anymore but I can't test it without buying it first.

Or even better,  do you plan to add Linux support?

Thanks :)

Linux support not on the roadmap just yet, but if we get enough demand for it we can look into it. I have not tested wine support, but theoretically, we package everything you need dependency wise in the main package so it shouldn’t have any problems there. I’m not sure how it would handle audio device stuff though.

Hello Strange Ape Games,
I too want and need Linux support.

Thanks for letting me know! I can look into it soon. What are you guys currently running if you don't mind me asking? Debian? Arch? Fedora?

I decided to bite the bullet and buy it (happy to support it btw!) but it doesn't work too well on Wine. (tested it in Faugus and Bottles with the default settings)

It opens, and you can browse the sounds but it crashes when you try dragging and dropping stuff in the multi track (videos too).

Cloud providers fail with

But I'm happy to run more tests and get some logs if you want.

I am running Arch, but I think with an AppImage it should run in most distros, so that's what you probably sould consider :)

I'm happy that you are considering doing Linux support!  :)

Is the error image not loading? The error says "Failed to load: method or operation not implemented"

I use Arch (SteamOS)  tried to use it with Proton for compatibility but I can't load in Videos. so a genuine Linux build would be great.

okay I'll take a look this weekend!

Progress!

neat

Hell yeah! Nice job!!! Looking forward to it!!

I’ve spent a while trying to get drag-and-drop from the app to the desktop working properly on Wayland, but no luck so far. Because of that, the first Linux release will probably only support drag-and-drop on X11. Everything else seems to work fine on Wayland though.

I’ve released a Linux AppImage! It requires libfuse to run, but otherwise should work smoothly. If you encounter any issues, please let me know and I’ll get a hotfix out as quickly as possible.

Amazing job!

Tested with the multi track and the Cloud providers and they both worked! Had one crash only but you should get the diagnostics for it.

Thank you for working so fast on this! 😍

I'll test it on Wayland later today. On X11 it worked flawlessly, even with the drag and drop.
