after building a pillar a dwarf became the pillar and atempts to remove the pillar to free the dwarf was ignored and the flesh pillar dwarf unmerged only after they were insane hungry and doomed.

So a dwarf was stuck in a pillar and never moved out? I'll see if I can recreate that happening. Dwarves often get stuck under furniture as its created but usually free themselves quite quickly.

I haven't seen it with pillars happening. I have seen a Dwarf get stuck when building walls. But after a short time they get out of just wall through it instantly.
