Are you looking for something completely different? An oddity? An enigma? Or perhaps .. an Anomaly? Anomalies may be a game, then again it may not. One user described it as "A million musical leeches, waiting to suck the serotonin from my brain." And that's just the beginning...

You can download Anomalies for free for the duration of PROCJAM here:

Anomalies

Anomalies began as a way of creating nebulae for my other game Star Explorers.  Well, it evolved over time into something I called "Trees in Space" which imagined what trees might look like if they grew in outer space.  Here's a video of what that looked like:

Trees in Space is a very early version of Anomalies

So the game evolved quite a bit since that time too.  I added lots of features like textures, glowing lights and clouds, wiggling and orbiting anomalies, symmetry, flowers, particles and more.  The game is experimental in that I did not really consider what it would end up being.  I would get an idea, see if I could get it to work, and if so, build the next idea upon that.

One of my favorite things was to make the Anomalies musical.  This was really hard to get working the way I wanted it to.  The music in the "Trees in Space" video was actually generated by a later version of Anomalies.  Sounds can be very random, or, depending on the parameters being used, can be quite rhythmic and harmonious.  There are also a number of Anomalies "albums" available (some for free) on my Bandcamp page.  These are collections of songs produced by the Anomalies software that I felt were unique or interesting.

Please enjoy this limited time offer of Anomalies!  I would hope, in exchange, you might share this with your friends, follow my developer page, or some of my other games as well.  Thanks!

Here are a few more screenshots of what you can see in Anomalies:
