Really clever!

This is a super clever idea, and I love the control you have over the choices but also the randomness of which four cards you have at any given time. If you draw the 6 but your opponent's playing the color of that queen, will you risk them using their 6 too? With A winning the other two, when do you use it?

All great questions to ask when making decisions, and the original (war) is a game entirely devoid of choices, which makes this even cooler!

Well done :D

Thank you! We agree. Was a blast making this one with my kids to replace War and they really enjoy it.

It also serves as the base combat system for two more games I am coming out with in the near future. One is a hybrid playing card deck + PnP custom events game, the other is a solo game with a similar objective to For Northwood! (must hit specific number Event wins for each Knight).

OMG you made it with your kids??? Dang, they're good designers! 馃檶

And it's super cool to think about using this as a mechanic or system in another game, too, rather than existing on its own. I look forward to what you doing with it! Honestly, just hearing about that as a possibility makes me think about a journaling type game to go along with this, as you're like the bard/Chaucer from A Knight's Tale following one of the competitors in the tournament. "Our brave hero may have lost in the precision contest, but they were so close that they may as well have won, so..."

Or maybe even adding an odd-numbered player (3 or 5 in team games) where they're the herald who writes about what's going on.

I like that! I need to get better at making RPG and journaling games so open to ideas.

I did just release the solo mode, The Story of Sir Diamant. More to come. Thanks!

Oh, awesome, thanks for the heads up! I've got that on my "games to try" list now 馃コ The preview in your post looks awesome, btw!

This game came out at a great time. Was looking at a new dueling game with a standard set if cards.  Sure enough Gregg Jewell is on it. Can't wait to play.
