Auto building

What's the deal with autobuilder for the buildings? As far as I understand, you can set the structure to be built automatically on a % of population/workers and I have really hard time translating that to anything meaningful. What did you have in mind when designing the autobuilder, or rather - how is it supposed to be used in a convenient way?  I've been playing the game for some time now. I'm about to raise the planet temperature to 0C in order to get some water on the surface. In the meantime I'm producing life research points and recently built my first Metropolis. Throughout all this time I've been micromanaging all the buildings and it's starting to get tedious as more new mechanics are introduced into the gameplay

Autobuild has many settings.  Generally, when running an economy you typically want a certain % of your pops/workers to work on something.  For example, by default you need 1 hydroponics farm for 100 pop.  That means you need 1% of your pop as farms.  The autobuild can target that.

Similarly, maybe you want 20% of your workers to work in components factory.  Then you can % worker share to achieve that.

Finally, since your industrial power scales with workers, buildings without a worker demand (such as glass smelter) can be set a % of workers target to make sure it stays correlated to it.

Oh, that makes sense, actually. Thought it would be cool to get some kind of cheat sheet/info table in the game that shows the player optimal settings for each building - maybe add it as a reasearch award?
