Cheap Dev Feedback for Your Game - I Want to Help

Hi Devs,

I am a freelance quality assurance play-tester. I've been working in the industry for over a decade. A lot of you are making games and/want some and may need some professional feedback to make your project better and stand out and/or to prepare for big shows like Steam Next Fest, PAX, GamesCom, SXSW, GDC etc. I can offer that.

[Skills]

I have done QA / playtesting for Disney, Naughty Dog and Warner Bros for several years as a contractor. I’ve also done QA for many small indies.

[Qualifications] I have consulted with over 40 indie teams. In addition, I own over 800 physical copies of retro games and I'm steadily playing through the library, (which I will start re-streaming on Twitch soon). I have been playing games since I was six years old so, I know a lot of about design and can offer some valuable feedback to improve your game.

Okay, but what's the price?

Absolutely, I would want the deets too.

$30.00 to play the game for a half an hour and $60.00 to play the game for a full hour. Anything past the hour (to complete the game) we can negotiate on what works best for both us.

Okay, what do I get?

Full game-play video with audio commentary/feedback. You'll see the issues and/or bugs I run into firsthand and what to immediately improve.

Don't believe me? See the testimonials.

And, I'll play your game for free for 10 mins with a recorded video and some commentary to show I'm for real.

If you believe in your game and want it to do well on the market, this small investment will be worth it for you.

Interested? Email me lilcj2r@netzero.com (I will reply within 24 hours)

Mhh... assuming this is compliant with the rules, how can those replies be towards a post of yours, if this is the first and only one of your account? :3

My previous business partner was running it under their account ;)

ok, i got that you also give a recording of yourself playing the game, but why someone would pay for you to do so? and even more, 30 dollars for just half an hour? It isn't cheaper to just go to a game dev community and ask feedback there? if another game dev also wants feedback, they may play your game in exchange of you playing theirs. So what else you do other than playing games? QA? let's be honest, playtesting and QA are almost the same, even more if you just play for at most an hour the games... I need something that sets you apart before paying :eyes:

1. Well, if you read the top of the post, the value of playtesting at the big game companies listed is why. I'm willing to bet that maybe 1% of people in this community have this experience with playtesting at those companies. In addition, I have multiple gameplay videos from the independent studios that I have done this for.

2. I researched the market and have done this for a while. The research shows that this community doesn't like to pay for much, (if anything). This point is specifically proven by your words. " It isn't cheaper to just go to a game dev community and ask feedback there?" Also, I'm not sure if it's "cheaper" as it may be free to do so. $30 is a dollar a minute for the half hour of gameplay. The price I chose is my way of trying to help the smaller developers that are serious about growing and truly want quality feedback, QA, playtesting etc. They may not be able to afford the higher prices If they spent money on contractors (i.e. art, music, maybe programming etc.) to make their game better, there may not be much left in the budget.

3. Again, if you read the post, in the testimonials, the value the other devs are shown. So, that answers your question there.

4. I even offered to play games for 10 minutes as "demo". Literally, a zero risk. Maybe you missed reading that too.

Bottom line: Instead of wasting your energy to respond the way that you have, you can take the time read and comprehend if the service is for you or not. If it isn't, you can kindly move on and say nothing.

Ok, thx for clarifying, but I still have questions

Yourself said that small game devs are not willing to pay anything for their games, and that's true, unless your help is really ground breaking for them (preferably if you can help they earning money as well). If game devs aren't willing to pay, why they would pay you if you just play games? Also, you mentioned your testimonials, but let's be honest, people will always call you an angel if you help them, even more considering you said that you just play games, while they are saying you really boosted their game (I read your whole post btw)

And more, you said that if I don't see value in your stuff, I can just ignore the post, but every game dev sees value on playtesting, except that as I mentioned before, why would I pay you to playtest if there are whole communities for that? And you said for me to comprehend your work, that's why I'm making questions. You can try to convince me your work is better than I think, and then I can consider paying you one day (I need active players for my games, but 10 minutes isn't quite enough), or you can just ignore me if you really consider my questions useless...

Not a problem. Happy to clarify.

Okay, look here at what you wrote. You answered the question for me so, thank you kindly.

1st Paragraph

"If game devs aren't willing to pay, why they would pay you if you just play games?"

2nd paragraph

"but every game dev sees value on playtesting"

Haha that's why.

Re: Testimonials - "You mentioned your testimonials, but let's be honest, people will always call you an angel if you help them, even more considering you said that you just play games, while they are saying you really boosted their game."

Not true. You can't force people to do anything they don't want to do. Even if you ask or beg.

I'm not sure what your goal is as a game developer. If you're hobbyist, the service may not be for you. If you are hobbyist wanting to transition to be professional then, that's good. I looked at your catalog of games, but do not see any comments on any. Not that it means anything negative, it's just interesting.

Ok, I'm just a hobbyist anyways, but I'm considering to start getting a more professional role in game dev. You mentioned that I don't have comments on my games (true 😭), but paying for that still feels off. But you have a point, I need playtesters if I want to do something more serious to my games. Thx for clarifying!

Not a problem. If you have more q's , let me know. Happy Developing!
